2018 - 2019 School Year
February starts off with Groundhog Day. Will Punxsutawny Phil see his shadow? Our class will predict. This month, we will concentrate on reading words that have the er, ir, ur, sounds, as well as words that end with er, and est. We will also read words with the long a and e sounds (ai, ay,and ea sounds). We will continue to work on finding verbs in sentences and begin to work on adjectives. In math, we will continue to work on addition and subtraction with numbers to 18 and begin counting coins. In religion, we will discuss baptism, the first sacrament we receive. The class will learn about the American Revolution. The students will make Boston Tea Party Boats, sign The Declaration of Independence and make the Liberty Bell. We're also looking forward to Valentine's Day and the Mardi Gras Holidays. Have a safe and wonderful time off!
